First Day In The Log Book

Firstly, thanks to those of you who have taken a moment to type reply to the last couple of posts. It adds texture to the journal. Your comments and questions are welcome additions.

I’m pretty sure we have seriously over packed but that’s what happens when you are not required to comply with air line luggage weights. We also have to consider the possibility of cooler temperatures traveling in autumn with stops in higher altitudes. Never-the-less, it all fit nicely into the car.

Today started in Burlington with a cloudy sky but a couple of hours later there was barely a cloud in the sky. We finished the day in Sault Ste Marie, 745 km later. We always pack a sandwich and today we stopped for lunch and fuel in the Canadian Tire parking lot which also featured, what else, a Tim Hortons.

It always amazes me how tiring a day’s drive can be. Even more so today with the doodads today’s vehicles have. Today vehicles have adaptive cruise control so you can maintain your speed and not be concerned about rear ending the rapidly braking car in front. I was also using the lane keeping system meaning I needed very little steering correction and it also made it difficult to wander out of my driving lane. How on earth did I ever live without all this technology. Oh yeah, there was the GPS which landed the car 10 metres from our night’s accommodation. I did need to steer to the finish line, it’s not “self driving”.

There are a few rather unexciting photos today, check the sidebar. Here again the technology makes things easier. In the expanded view scrolling down reveals a map with a pin marking the location of the scene. I have thousands of historic photos and I haven’t a clue where most of them were taken; often no clue who or what was photographed.

So this is a short post today. Hopefully more tomorrow. Enjoy!

Love the scenery Ted. With all the technology we have in our cars these days, we can look around a little more than usual but still keep guard on everything 😁. Safe journey on your next day of travel as well & don’t forget those Peanut Butter Sandwiches 😝🤣 !
