A second long day on the road completed successfully in Thunder Bay. Today started in sunshine and as we began circling Lake Superior the temperature dropped from the mid teens down to five or six degrees celsius. Several times we drove through fog sufficiently dense to condense instantly on the windows. We could occasionally see huge banks of fog out over the lake but photos did them no justice. Although the temperature rose slowly throughout the day the sky became increasingly cloudy. I have added a few more photos although lack map information. We were frequently without cell phone service today.
As we approached the town of Dorion, about an hour from Thunder Bay, a funny thing happened. The GPS suddenly commanded a right turn off what was a seemingly good highway onto a gravel side road. Being of suspicious nature, I stopped to check the routing on the several mapping programs on my device. All suggested a detour on Dorion Loop Road. As the quality of the detour roads diminished the sense of remoteness grew I detected some anxiety from the passenger seat. Eventually we were directed to Ouimet Canyon Road which returned us to Highway 11. The explanation is that the section of Highway 11
“had recently been under construction” so the GPS figured out a work around that turned out to be unnecessary since construction is now complete. Technology is wonderful, sometimes! We arrived unscathed except for a relatively thick coating of red dust on the car which has been remedied by a car wash.

Well Ted, I have had a similar thing happen with the GPS and ignored it. In my case it resulted in sitting on the freeway for 2 hours with no means of escape. Turns out there had been a major accident some miles ahead. Some yo win, some you loose!
When we had the Motorhome driving down the highway the GPS out of the blue tell us to exit and get right back on the highway, did it a few times. I use Waze now, cost some but directs you around accidents, traffic back ups etc as long as the Cell phone running data.
BARC BBQ tomorrow, Club picking up the cost, I think about 50 people are coming. Not looking for the 29C and humid weather tomorrow, hope the Hidden Valley Park will have some shade.
