Pre-travel check

It is about one month before we travel again but I need to deposit something into your inbox in order to test the changes to the web site and email delivery system.

Computer software is rarely static, authors regularly issue updates both to add features and to fix defects. I always try to perform updates while not travelling because internet time can be expensive and update installations that don’t go well can consume a lot of internet time to fix things. I also try to adopt the philosophy “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” but occasionally the software producer insists that a component must be replaced even though the earlier version still works properly. Well, the updates are complete unless thing go badly when this post is delivered.

The new automatic email delivery system made it necessary to review my subscriber database. When I was uncertain as to whether you were to receive automatic updates I included you. However, if you do not wish to receive automatic updates use the Unsubscribe link which you should find at the bottom of the email. If for any reason this does not work please contact me by email. To do that, simply reply to the post.

Our next trip will be from Los Angeles to Hawaii and back to Los Angeles over Christmas and New Years. This will be third time for this itinerary at Christmas and the fourth overall. I’m sure there will be new experiences on this cruise too. We will be sailing on the Emerald Princess again, the same ship as for the California trip. This is just about the largest ship that interests me. According to our Air Canada booking we will fly for the first time on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Toronto to LA. We anticipate seeing two familiar groups of entertainers on board.

If this works well the next post should occur around December 17.

An apology and some information

At the end of each new post there is a Leave a reply  link which has not been working correctly. If you attempted to reply to a post using this link it simply refused to perform the task. For this I am sorry.

It should now be repaired so please feel free to make use of it. You can, of course, contact me by return email but when you make use of the  Leave a reply  link other readers have the opportunity to read your comments. Once a post has received a reply the  Leave a reply  message is replaced by  1 Reply and the count increases with each response. However, clicking on Reply will allow a new response to be posted.

Just be aware that the first time you leave a reply I must “approve” your message. Once your first message has been approved (usually within a day) any subsequent message from you will be automatically approved and attached to the post.

One other detail, you must perform some simple arithmetic before a reply will be accepted just to prove you are a person. Unfortunately, there are a few individuals who create robot programs that search the internet for journals or blogs and automatically post nuisance messages.

I hope I have not confused anyone too much. Should you find any other problems please let me know by email.

Thanks for reading along.
