We keep enjoying superb weather and Sunday was no exception. We paid visits to John Dean Park and to Mount Douglas, a 200 (or so) metre hill we used to cycle up as a 12 year old kid. We were then treated to a tour around Victoria shoreline. It was not perfectly clear but sufficient to see Mount Baker and the US coastline across the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
We managed a quick shot of the B.C. legislature building and the ever so famous Empress Hotel, neither of which has changed appreciably in the 60 or so years since I lived in Victoria. The end of each of the last few days has seen Bryan, Elaine, Gail and I meet up with Dave (Bryan’s brother) and Connor (Dave’s son) at some local brew pub, and there are many in the area. Sunday evening took us to Spinnaker’s Brewpub where I sampled a brew heavily favouring raspberry, interesting. Monday will be our final day in Victoria with our marvellous hosts and then we move on, ever nearer our Rocky Mountaineer departure. Tuesday we travel up island to Port Albernie so it’s likely there will be more forest scenes to amaze. Stay tuned!

All looks so lovely! We’re in the midst of a nation mourning, the funeral was perfect — only something the British can do! Now back to being tourists — off to Whitby today for fish n chips ny the seaside!
